Lora Mwaniki-Lyman is a Research Economist and Data Manager with the Economic and Business Research Center (EBR) at The University of Arizona’s Eller College of Management. A graduate of The University of Arizona, Lora holds two masters’ degrees; one in the Management of Finance from the Eller College of Management, and another in Agricultural and Resource Economics. Her areas of professional expertise include managing and developing business and economic databases, reporting and analyzing economic and financial data, performing economic impact studies, the U.S.-Mexico border economy, border infrastructure and cross-border flows.

Lora’s research contributions while at the University include co-authoring two Arizona Town Hall background reports; Arizona’s Future: Jobs, Innovation & Competitiveness (2010) background report for the Ninety-Sixth Arizona Town Hall and Arizona as a Border State – Competing in the Global Economy (2005) background report for the Eighty-Sixth Arizona Town Hall. She is co-director of the Border Economy Program and co-author of the Regional Economic Indicators: Arizona-Sonora Region Report (2003, 2004) and the Report Card: Arizona-Sonora Region (2003, 2004), which were presented annually to government, community and business leaders, the Astronomy, Planetary and Space Sciences Research – An Economic and Tax Revenue Impact Study (2007) and the University of Arizona Economic and Tax Revenue Impacts FY2004 (2005).

Her contributions as a data manager include managing the design, development and maintenance of the EBR Database Online. The database is a recipient of the Association of University Business and Economic Research (AUBER) 2010 Award of Excellence in the category of Publications, Abstracts and Other Data Collections. Lora also managed the design and development of The State of Arizona Border Infrastructure Project (www.bip.arizona.edu), a strategic initiative of the Arizona-Mexico Commission endorsed by former Governor Janet Napolitano in 2004. She oversees the upkeep of the business and economic database that supports the economic forecasting models, research projects and publications developed by EBR research associates.
